# Collaboration Storage

Choose where the team keeps the central file, on a network drive or in Google Drive.

The central file must be somewhere every teammate can open. Rhino Sync supports two kinds of storage.

| Best for | Teams in one office or on a VPN          | Remote teams                                  |
| Speed    | Fast on a local network                  | Depends on your internet connection           |
| You need | Read and write access to a shared folder | A Google account with edit access to the file |
| Backups  | Rhino Sync keeps the last 5 versions     | Google Drive keeps its own version history    |

When you collaborate, reload or synchronize, your `.3dm` files are never stored on MKS DTECH servers. They move only between your computer and your network drive or Google Drive.
